On 21 February Rev. Babalwa Sifuba once again facilitated a Contextual Bible Study (CBS) facilitator’s training workshop. This time it was done with the Presbytery of URCSA Aliwal North.
“A diverse group of twelve people attended the training of whom members of three of URCSA Cape’s ministries, the Christian Women’s Ministry (CWM), the Christian Men’s Ministry (CMM) and the Christian Youth Ministry (CYM) were present,” says Rev. Sifuba.
“After reading and studying Exodus 22 from verse 1 to 15, the group discussed the theme of crime. I enjoyed listening to their interesting contributions. It was heartwarming to listen to ordinary members sharing with one another how these Bible texts were guiding them.
“After that the participants were given the opportunity to share with the group how they will go about to facilitate CBS with their different ministries in their congregations.”
This was an empowering experience for the group. Monica Odendaal says, “This CBS workshop was very fruitful. I have learnt a lot and gained so much knowledge. I will definitely share this with my sisters in Christ at my congregation.”
One of the other attendees, Mareka Baitsitse says, “CBS provides the perfect opportunity for participation. It is an eye opener. It is worth it, and has challenged my way of thinking.”
Ronny Cater says, “CBS has empowered me and has boosted my spiritual life.”
According to Rev. Masele CBS has boosted his confidence. “As a facilitator, this session was so worthwhile and is needed in our presbytery,” he says.
“This was a very fruitful and up-lifting exercise. After this workshop I am confident about presenting anything,” says Ntsiky Landela.
