CCAP Nkhoma Synod Environmental Care

In 1999, a Department of Environmental Care was established to create a stronger awareness among church members of a Christian’s calling to preserve the environment. It is particularly focused on counseling schools and congregations. In his time Hennie Smit distributed trees during the rainy season with his tree-planting project, and more and more congregations realize its value.

His promotion of the Farming God’s Way method to subsistence farmers. The yields of maize crops are significantly higher than the old ‘ridging’ method. It also contributes to greater food security as a result.

Jaco Slingerland took over from Hennie Smit in 2019.
