Fltr: Wendy Williams, Mandlakazi Mlata, Nkosiyawo Keyi, Sindiswa Kopana and Rev. Babalwa Sifuba

On Saturday 18 February, Rev. Babalwa Sifuba facilitated a CBS training workshop for CBS facilitators with four members of the Christian Youth Ministry (CYM) of the Presbytery of Fish River. They were hosted by URCSA Bhofolo Congregation. The group studied the texts of the book of Philippians 2:1-11, and experienced it as a very meaningful workshop.

“I’ve gained more confidence from today’s training and I will go back to my congregation and do more facilitating especially with my CYM,” says Mandlakazi Mlata, who recently attended URCSA Bhofolo’s Contextual Bible Study (CBS) workshop.

Another participant, Sindiswa Kopana, says, “The workshop was very fruitful and informative. I have learned different ways of reading and analysing Bible texts and how to be able to teach others as well. I will go back to my congregation with confidence, enabled to convey or transfer what I have learnt today.”

“The CBS training was fruitful, because I was taught how to link Bible texts to the challenges we are facing in our congregation. Most of all, I got the opportunity to be trained as a CBS facilitator. I am now empowered with skills to go back to my congregation to share what I have learnt through CBS,” says Wendy Williams.

The fourth participant, Nkosyawo Keyi, says, “Ndive kamandi kakhulu namhlanje nge CBS kuba nditsho ndanomdla omkhulu ekufundeni iBible yam, kwaye ndifumene nolwazi oluninzi, ngoku ndiziva ndirhalela ukunga ndingafundisa nabanye abantu kwaye lonto ingandenza ndizibone iimpazamo zam xa ndisenza iCBS. Manditsho ukuthi namhlanje iBible ndiyibona njengobutyebi obusentsimini ngokuba zanke iimeko esidibana nazo namhlanje zikhona kwiBible, kwakunye neempendulo zethu zikhona. Enkosi mfundisi ngolwazi ondinike lone.” (Translated as: I heard a lot today about CBS because I was very interested in reading my Bible, and I got a lot of information. Let me say that today I see the Bible as a treasure because all the challenges we have to face today are in the Bible, as well as the answers to it. Thank you, teacher for the information you have given me.)
