“I have learnt how to fully read and understand a Bible story, how to reference it to my daily challenges, seeking understanding and guidance,” says Phumeza Harmans, one of the Christian Youth Ministry (CYM) members who attended a Introductory to CBS workshop on Tuesday 21 March.
This workshop with the CYM of URCSA George Presbytery was facilitated by Rev. Babalwa Sifuba, supported by Prop. None. Rev. Sifuba says, “This workshop was meant to be a training workshop but the four members who were previously introduced to CBS when it was with different ministries, could not join this time due to commitments.
“We were joined by nine CYM members who were very interested in knowing what this CBS is about after hearing their parents talking about it. And what an energetic group of young people it was! The group had a conversation on how to work together to build their ministry by choosing the theme, bridging the gap of miscommunication, reading from Joshua 22:10-34. It was very interesting how they were wrestling with the text trying to find meaning.”
One of the attendees, Ayakha Make, says, “The CBS session was great. I have learnt that for any challenge there is a Bible text that can give you insight or ways to address your challenge. But in all of that you need to take time to understand the situation and take time to understand the text as well.”
