The 17 people who attended the CBS workshop.
On Saturday 22 April an Introduction of Contextual Bible Study (CBS) workshop was presented to nine Christian Youth Ministry (CYM) representatives of the Presbytery of Zuurbraak and eight URCSA Robertson congregation’s ministries leaders.
It was facilitated by Prop. Jayson Gribble, assisted by Jean-Pierre Manuel and Diavian Carolus, CYM leaders training as facilitators. The theme of the introduction was “The role of the Church” – a topic that is much needed to be discussed in these challenging days.
“The time at Robertson was very enjoyable, says Prop. Gribble. “We could experience the love and care of our hosts, URCSA Robertson, and was contagious throughout our CBS workshop. What stood out as a highlight was how the group struggled to figure out what the calling of the church should be for us today – here and now. They discussed in depth what role we as Christians should play as followers of Christ.
“As always, it was once again pleasant to observe the influential and profound insight of youth peers and the way they think about being church and our role in that.“
So, what have the attendees to say about their experience of this workshop? One of the attendees, Andre Joseph, says: “What an instructive morning and afternoon it was! It was a good learning school. May God bless CBS.”
Another attendee, Anna Hendriks, says: “It was very informative, thanks to everyone.”
The CBS team is very grateful to Rev. Randow Jantjies and the church council of URCSA Robertson who ensured that everything went smoothly, that there were refreshments for the participants and that the venue was also made available for the Presbytery of Zuurbraak’s CYM.
