On 15 April, a unique event took place in Klawer. Three leadership-groups of the Presbytery of Clanwilliam were simultaneously introduced to the method of Contextual Bible Study (CBS): the Christian Women’s Ministry (CWM), and the Christian Youth Ministry (CYM), as well as the church council of URC Klawer– a first-ever!

The workshop with the CWM, with the theme How are we called to recruit? was facilitated by Prop. Aidan Windvogel and Danelle Jansen of URCSA Graafwater. This workshop was attended by 14 women and one of the attendees, Elizabeth Brown, summarized the day as follows: “It was very informative, and I learned so many things.”

The workshop with the CYM with the theme, The search for identity amid (unhealthy) peer pressure, was facilitated by Prop. Ashwin Thyssen. He was assisted by JP Manual from URCSA Eersterivier, and this workshop was attended by 18 people.

The church council of Klawer gathered around the theme-question, How do we, as a church council, show unity as a beacon of hope? This workshop, which was facilitated by Prop. Rachel Linderoth was attended by 17 church council members.
One of the attendees captured the day as follows: “Thank you very much for a Saturday well-spent! It was very informative, educational, and refreshing …”
From here on, some of the attendees will be recruited and trained in facilitation, which will enable them to facilitate a Contextual Bible Study with their local congregations in the future.
