The group from George Presbytery who attended the CBS facilitator’s workshop
“The training was very informative and empowering. I now have the confidence to stand in front of any group and be able to present CBS,” says Nomsa, one of the CWM members who attended the CBS facilitator’s workshop on 20 May at KwaNokuthula Congregation in Plettenberg Bay.
This workshop was different from the usual ones because it was presented to both CWM and CYM members simultaneously. There were seven CWM members and four CYM members present – something that ensured a very dynamic cross-generational input from both sides.
Rev, Babalwa Sifuba who facilitated the workshop says, “We explored in detail how to facilitate CBS – the do’s and don’ts as facilitator. The importance of how to set up a venue, how to understand your audience, and how to formulate questions that will allow conversation within the group, were of the many aspects that were discussed.
“I have learnt that as a facilitator you should take time to do research about the text after it has been selected by the group you will be facilitating; I have learnt the importance of language-use when you address a group,” says Zenande, one of the CYM members who attended the workshop.
