The group of the Presbytery of Cala who attended the informational workshop.

On Saturday, February 3, Rev. Stephen Pedro facilitated an informational workshop with the Presbytery of Cala at URCSA Indwe.

Rev. Derick Myburgh played a crucial role in making this workshop a reality, and there was great appreciation for the hospitality extended by the leadership, church council, and Women’s Ministry of URCSA Indwe. Their thorough preparation ensured the success of this workshop. The translator made significant contributions to guarantee that the workshop was consistently effective and inclusive.

The workshop began with an update on the current profile of the presbytery, allowing Rev. Pedro to assess whether the situation has remained unchanged since 2018 or has improved.

Following this information session, they addressed the reality that, by the end of 2024, there will be no minister under the age of 65 in the presbytery. Rev. Myburgh’s church councils requested him to continue serving until the end of 2024.

Given the numerous vacancies and the urgent need to ordain at least one or two ministers in the coming months, the focus for the rest of the day centered on the following matters: the Proponent’s Fund, the missional calling of their congregations, the Contextual Bible Study (CBS) Programme, our flagship project to build capacity, and the Integrated Ministry Model (IMM) with a special focus on the Core Ministries.

Overall, it was a blessing to be with our abadala nabadikoni of the Presbytery of Cala, and to drink from their wells, as well as to learn from their wealth of experience, spirituality, and love for God and His church.

Umthandazo wam kukuba uThixo akusikelele kwaye akugcine ngothando lwakhe, ubulumko kunye nobabalo lwakhe, ukuqhubeka nomsebenzi obalulekileyo kunye nobomi obunika umoya awuqalile kuwe.

Missional regards,
Mfundisi Stephen Pedro
