“We are truly blessed as a synod,” remarks Rev. Samuel Besitala, the general secretary of our sister church in Mozambique, the IRM Mphatso Synod.
“A leadership and marriage seminar for pastors and their wives in Mozambique was conducted by Dr Davidson Chifungo, from November 14 to 16 at Vila Ulónguè in Northwest Mozambique. There were 80 individuals, including 40 pastors and 38 women, who participated. Dr Chifungo is the Veritas College International’s Director of Education in the Sub-Saharan Africa region with his office in Lilongwe, Malawi.
“As church leaders deeply concerned about these matters, this seminar provided an ideal opportunity for us as pastors to convene and deliberate on these issues and challenges within a secure environment. This setting facilitated our ability to generate meaningful solutions.
“Topics addressed during the seminar included the significance of unity within families and churches, along with an exploration of the root causes of disunity; the imperative for leadership equipped with vision and strategic planning to foster church growth, and lastly effective ways in which women can contribute to the growth and development of the church.
“After an extensive and heartfelt discussion, marked by openness and guided by God’s Word and prayers, individuals were able to openly address the pertinent issues. Together, they agreed to turn a new leaf, setting aside differences that hinder the progress of the church, and the women committed to actively contribute to church growth by offering their support and service.
“It was unanimously decided that, God willing, a follow-up seminar will be organised next year to monitor progress as this is crucial for the ministry’s continued growth.
“We extend our heartfelt gratitude for the support provided form Witness Ministry that made this seminar possible.”
